Municipal co-worker appears in court for the murder of the late Oscar Hlatshwayo

All 3 suspects will remain in custody at Durban Westville Prison until their bail hearing next week

Senior municipal official and co-worker Nomaswazi Shabalala has been arrested, along with two suspected hit-men, for the murder of the late Simingaye Oscar Hlatshwayo, who was the Executive Director: Engineering & Infrastructure at Alfred Duma Local Municipality.

Hlatshwayo was brutally gunned down at the intersection of Francis and Harrismith Road on February 7 after dropping off his two children at school.

Shabalala, along with the two other suspects, appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (May 14). The case was postponed until May 22 and 23, when they will have the opportunity to apply for bail.

For now, all three suspects will remain in custody at Durban Westville Prison.
