Critically ill baby airlifted from Ladysmith Provincial Hospital

A premature baby had to be airlifted to PMB just last month

A six-month-old infant in critical condition had to be airlifted from Ladysmith Provincial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon (May 15). According to paramedics, the baby was taken to Grey’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg (PMB).

This is the second baby within three weeks to be airlifted from the Provincial Hospital to Grey’s. A premature baby had to be rushed to PMB just last month.

Paramedics spent almost an hour in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), preparing the baby boy for the transfer in order for the infant to receive specialised medical attention.

An ambulance service helped with the ground transfer from the hospital to where the chopper landed.
