Elections 2019: Double voting discovered in Dannhauser – 17 people involved

17 people have been taking in by police over allegations of double voting in the Dannhauser area.

The group, who all belong to the same party, are alleged to have voted in Durnacol before making their way to Dannhauser Secondary in an attempt to vote again.

It is believed that the ink used at the Durnacol voting station could be easily removed, allowing the group t vote elsewhere. However their attempt was foiled by IEC officials witnesses said.

Four members of the group were arrested last night, while the others are believed to have handed themselves over this morning. Brig Vishnu Naidoo of the Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure said the suspects are facing charges under the Electoral Act.
