1.2-metre Mozambique Spitting Cobra found hiding in shoe

Luckily nobody put their vulnerable foot into the shoe

Snakes are found all around Ladysmith these days, but who would think of looking in their shoes for a snake measuring over a metre long?

Well, a shoe lying on the floor of a house in Willow Drive was chosen by a 1.2-metre Mozambique Spitting Cobra as the ideal place to hide.

Luckily nobody put their foot into the shoe, otherwise someone would’ve most likely been bitten.

The homeowners saw the snake disappear into the size 7 shoe and quickly contacted local snake expert Fanie Cilliers.

The snake was completely hidden in the shoe and Fanie says that if you saw the shoe lying there, you would never have thought that a massive cobra could be coiled up inside it.

Fanie quickly removed the snake and relocated it to a farm outside Ladysmith.
