Msinga High School engage in State of the Nation Address

More than 250 pupils joined in to be part of the millions of South Africans who waited in anticipation to see what President Ramaphosa had in store for them.

The community of Msinga gathered at the Msinga school hall recently to watch the live broadcast of the State of the Nation Address (SONA). The broadcast was made possible by the Government Communications Services.
More than 250 pupils joined in to be part of the millions of South Africans who waited in anticipation to see what President Ramaphosa had in store for them.
This gave the learners and the community the chance to engage in government affairs such as service delivery that is hindering the improvement of their livelihood.
Welcoming the SONA, Sindisiwe Dlamini, Msinga High School principal, advised everyone who was present: “You need to pay attention to the President as he will be delivering key important issues that will affect you. We are also pleased to be part of this live broadcast as a rural school.”
The community was fascinated by the live broadcast and were hopeful that the government showed they cared for them as well by inviting them to such an important broadcast. Learners were granted an opportunity to ask questions and Zinhle Thusini, a Grade 9 learner said: “The President’s speech was excellent since he had prioritised education within schools, I am glad that this President has spoken about tablets that need to be speedily delivered within schools that don’t have enough of them, that alone will help us as learners.”

In his synopsis, Bheka Madondo, a Constituency member, told learners that they need to be focused at school since the government is ensuring that education ‘becomes fashionable’. “We are delighted that the SONA brought hope to many of us in Msinga and all we require from you as students is that you become South African citizens that will be economically active in creating jobs in future.”

There were song and dance to commemorate such a day as watching a live broadcast at a school hall has never happened in Msinga.
