Bowling results bring a mixed bag for mixed pairs
Newcastle Bowling Club started its annual Mixed Pairs competition at the weekend with a field of 14 teams.
The sectional play produced some surprise results, with many of the more fancied teams being beaten.
Teams qualifying for the semi-finals to be played on March 17 are: Fritz and Marie Botha, Adrian and Vicky van der Merwe, Trevor Moore and Denise, and Lou and Eleen Roux.
The FedAuto meat competition played at the beginning of the month was won by Ron Howe, Sue Hutchinson, Solly Cronje and Martie Pepler with the runners-up prizes going to Fritz Botha, Lukas Niemand, Gert Roos and Marius Bouwer Snr.
The highly anticipated Northern Zone Mixed Pairs competition gets underway this weekend at Newcastle BC, with another pleasing entry expected from all clubs in the zone.
