Wife lucky to survive ambush as they always drove in separate cars

A senior municipal employee was shot dead this morning in an ambush at the Sondela Intersection close to the Pick n Pay Complex.

The identity of the senior official is known to the Ladysmith Gazette.

His wife was lucky to survive the ambush as they drove in separate vehicles and she was already at work when news filtered through about the ambush.

Emergency personnel and police are still at the scene of the shooting busy conducting their investigating.

A large crowd of members of the Alfred Duma Local Municipality including senior officials gathered at the scene.
