Nquthu community bids farewell to a local hero

He was described as a strict man who was fair and made sure he taught the youngsters around him the importance of discipline.

The community of Nquthu paid tribute to a local hero,  John Mahlalela Motaung, who has passed away and whose funeral was held on Saturday.

Mr Motaung, 66, was well known in the area and a member of the local SAPS Community Forum. Many representing the SAPS, Molefe Traditional Authority, Pumulane High School and Mashesheleng High School principal Mrs Majola and Mr Kubheka, local Sotho Traditional Leaders gathered at Nquthu Mashesheleng area to pay their last erespects.

He was described as a strict man who was fair and made sure he taught the youngsters around him the importance of discipline.

Freelance journalist and relative, Bongani, said his grandfather was also something of a comedian who loved jokes.

There was also a horse parade to the cemetery to respect Mr Motaung who was well known for his horsemanship on his mount, Skyline. Men also sang his praise as he was one of good example within Sotho Traditional Culture, “Bongani said.
