Top-achieving matriculants receive awards

The top 10 learners received tablet devices as well

As part of Okhahlamba Local Municipality’s #ThumaMina Programme, the municipality held its annual Matric Awards ceremony at the municipal council chambers recently. Awards were distributed to the top 50 learners within Okhahlamba. The top 10 learners received tablet devices as well.

Through an incentive programme to encourage young people to further their studies, the municipality offers registration fees for tertiary institutions to the top 30 excelling learners in the area. The municipality also pays registration fees for a further 50 learners who come from impoverished homes. Seven learners are also currently benefiting from a full-bursary programme.

Okhahlamba Local Municipality would like to thank the Department of Education, principals, teachers, governing bodies, parents and unions for all their hard work in ensuring the success of the ‘Class of 2018’.
