Filthy gutters leaves business owner gutted

"We cannot pay rates and still pay someone to clean the gutters,"

An Albert Street business owner says the image of her business is tarnished by the horrible state of the gutters outside her store.

Filth and muck is stretched along the gutters throughout the street, giving off an awful smell. For fear of being victimised, the business women asked not to be named.

“We cannot pay rates and still pay someone to clean the gutters. We can’t stand this place! Is the municipality not worried? Keep the town clean and start with the drains and gutters. What kind of impression are we giving of our town?” she exclaimed with furry.

The women went on to express her disgust, saying some men have no shame as they urinate all over the walls.

She explained that when it rains, the gutters overflow and added that she is also unhappy that the cleaners pick up a few papers and leave.

The business owner wants to see a change, which she firmly believes will bring back great business and in turn will boost the town’s economy.

These concerns have been forwarded to the municipality for a response; none was received at the time of going to print.
