39-year-old murder accused, Mthokozisi Qithi Vincent Khumalo reappeared briefly in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court a short while ago.

Mr Khumalo is an African National Congress (ANC) Councillor in the Uthukela district and is facing a charge of murder for the death of Zakhele Joseph Mazibuko, the IFP’s Publicity Secretary who was gunned down in September.

The accused’s bail application was refused. Magistrate Sam Mpungose announced that the case will be transferred to Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court.
All Mr Khumalo’s pending cases will be combined with this one count of murder and be heard at the Ezakheni Regional Court.

Magistrate Mpungose remanded the case for March 15 and added that the accused will be remanded in custody until then.
