Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Administrator resigns

Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize confirmed Mr Manda's resignation, adding that the exact reasons are unknown

Less than a year after taking up the challenge as Administrator of cash-strapped Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, Thandolwethu Manda has resigned.

Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize confirmed Mr Manda’s resignation, adding that the exact reasons are unknown.

“Mr Manda is accountable to CoGTA and we don’t even have his resignation letter, it was sent to the department. We have heard that he has greener pastures,” commented Mr Mkhize.

He also confirmed that Mr Manda’s resignation took effect from December 31. How has this affected service delivery and the plans at the municipality?

“Not that much,” replies Mr Mkhize.

He elaborates that Mr Manda’s resignation has had no impact on service delivery as management and councillors are continuing with plan set out during Mr Manda’s tenure.

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality’s leadership was introduced to the new Administrator last week.

Dumisani Vilakazi will take over the reins and has been appointed by CoGTA. According to Mr Mkhize, the new Administrator officially took over the position on Monday.
