Keep your children safe with these tips

Screaming and running are better safety ideas than trying to hide

Children are vulnerable and parents cannot always be by their side.

However, there are ways to help your children protect themselves.

The following are great child safety tips:

  • Children should know their parents’ names, address and phone numbers.
  • Tell your parents about things that make you feel scared, uncomfortable or sad.
  • Children should not tell a stranger their name or where they live.
  • Use the buddy system and avoid walking or playing alone outside or in public places.
  • Scream: “No!” Run and tell. Screaming and running are better safety ideas than trying to hide. If a stranger approaches you, scream: “No!” Run to where there are safe adults and tell an adult what happened.
  • Fight back: It is okay to scream and fight. Do anything to get a stranger to let go of you.
