PREVIEW: Dr Paul Mbele is taking the lead from a business front

“There must be no discrimination; we must never look down on ideas which can grow our economy.”

Dr Paul Mbele is committed to changing the face of local business.

He took control of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) from Sipho Sithole in August, and is keen to deliver on his passion for developing the business sector.

He believes his actions can forge a brighter future for all.

“Businesses are suffering and the economy is down locally and worldwide.”

While Dr Mbele was quick to praise his predecessor for the many things he did right, he also outlined what would be done differently from when Sithole was at the helm of NCCI.

Foremost would be the nurturing of the local economy.

“I want to ensure NCCI is a conducive platform for business for anyone who has something to invest in Newcastle.”

Dr Mbele believed there was opportunity for partnership with the private sector, and said this needed to become normal business practise.

“There must be no discrimination; we must never look down on ideas which can grow our economy.”
