Go from zero to hero this Casual Day

You are called upon to be a hero for persons with disabilities this Friday

Now you may be asking yourself: ‘what is Casual Day?’

Casual Day is South Africa’s leading fundraising and awareness campaign for persons with disabilities.

It is also the flagship project of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD).
Each year on the first Friday of September, South Africans are encouraged to go to work or school dressed differently – either dress up or dress down – and to wear the official Casual Day sticker to show their support for persons with disabilities.

So this year, the day is themed ‘BE AN EVERYDAY HERO.’

You are called upon to be a hero for persons with disabilities this Friday.

Getting your Casual Day sticker means helping others understand why persons with disabilities deserve equality like all South Africans.

“A disability is not something you invite, no one says I would love you be disabled. Casual Day is about creating awareness, and helping those that are destitute and cannot help themselves due to a disability. Do not feel shame and pity for the disabled, but do help and support where you can,” urged KwaZamokuhle School for Special Needs, Hostel Manager Vivian Mbhele.

KwaZamokuhle School is situated in the ePhangweni Mission, close to Loskop. It is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that is affiliated with the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities.

Get your sticker today for only R10 at the Estcourt and Midlands News Office at 99 Connor Street or call KwaZamokuhle School for Special Needs on 036 352 1446.
