The 28-year-old man who was taken in for questioning for the murder of an elderly woman has been released due to lack of evidence.
The woman’s body was discovered by a member of the community in the Thembalihle area on Tuesday, July 10.
Community members apprehended the suspect and proceeded to beat him up. The 28-year-old was rescued from ‘street justice’ when police arrived.
The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Mangaziole Winnie Zondo.
