Last Thursday night Okhahlamba Local Municipality and Municipal Manager (MM), Siza Dennis Sibande, won silver accolades at the coveted KZN Premier’s Excellence Awards at the ICC in Durban.

The categories that the municipality was nominated for were Best Municipality and Best Municipal Manager. The nominations were done externally by the Office of the Premier and the municipality and the MM were selected as one of the five finalists within each of the categories.
The rigorous judging process was conducted by a panel of experts from various departments and organisations across the province.
The municipality has managed to obtain three consecutive clean audit opinions from the Auditor General and four clean audit opinion outcomes over the last five years.

Previously the municipality was placed under provincial administration. Okhahlamba Municipality was the only municipality within the Uthukela district to be nominated for these categories this year.
As a municipality, we would like to congratulate our council, led by Councillor Mlungisi Ndlangisa and our employees, particularly our MM on this wonderful achievement!
