CRIME: SAPS arrest suspects for possession of stolen vehicles

While members were patrolling in Section D they noticed a blue VW Pollo, which had been reported stolen the previous week.

SAPS arrested two suspects for being in possession of stolen vehicles, during a recent weekend Intelligence Driven Operation.

According to police reports members of Newcastle VIS, oSizweni Detectives and oSizweni Crime Prevention were following up on information when they arrested the two men.

While members were patrolling in Section D they noticed a blue VW Pollo, which had been reported stolen the previous week.

Thereafter the members proceeded to a house in Section B, where they spotted a white Mazda 323 traveling in the area.

The vehicle had also been reported stolen at a nearby neighbourhood.

SAPS gave chase and managed to pull the vehicle over and arrest the suspect.

Both suspects aged 27 and 32 years old respectively, were arrested and charged with theft of motor vehicle, and will appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court soon.

The two vehicles were estimated at a value of about R 340 000.
