Strike Update: Taps are dry due to uThukela workers still being on strike

People who have water in Ladysmith are urged to store water in case their taps also run dry

Ladysmith residents have been battling without water since early this morning (June 29).

It is believed that uThukela workers are still on strike, as many of them did not get paid the money owing to them.

The uThukela Pieters Depot has been completely closed by the workers.

According to uThukela District Municipality communications officer Jabulani Mkhonza, “The water cut is due to the municipal strike. Hundreds of homes are left without water. Workers have shut down the plants and it is unknown when water will be restored in the affected areas”.
