DSS hosts May Fever Quad-Schools Challenge

Multi-code sports and lifestyle Inter-School Challenge brings Kallie Stadium to life.
In celebration of its centenary, Dundee Secondary School launched a multi-code sports and lifestyle challenge. The host school piloted, what is now known as the May Fever Quad Schools Challenge on the May 26 at the Fred Kallie’s Sports ground.
One school officially withdrew from the tournament which left three schools in contention for the title of “May Fever Schools Challenge – Launch Champions”. The participating schools were: Dundee Secondary School (host school), Mgidla High School (Nondweni) and Idlamadoda High school (Emasotshew). The schools went all out in preparing teams to participate in chess, debates, girls’ and boys’ soccer, netball, public speaking and volleyball. Officials had the task of calculating points awarded to winning teams. Spirits were high and the competition was tough. Spectators and educators cheered the participants on and rousing renditions kept the team spirit going. Teachers and learners were catered for and the atmosphere was electric.
After a great battle of skills, Dundee Secondary, with the overall highest points scored, clinched first position and were congratulated with cheers of delight for their efforts. Mgidla High school was placed in second position followed by Idlamadoda High School.
This event will be held annually and will be further developed to include academic elements.
