Ladysmith SAPS officer assaulted at police station

The officer sustained injuries to his eyes and face

A police officer was assaulted at Ladysmith police station on Monday (May 21).

According to police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi, the officer was attacked by a 52-year-old man.

It is alleged that the police officer was caught off-guard as he was sitting at his desk.

The motive behind the attack is unknown at this stage.

Ladysmith detectives are investigating a case of assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.
