Protest Update: No arrests made by police for municipal protest

It is believed that the striking workers are demanding a salary increase

According to police, no arrests have been made for the municipal protest that has been taking place in town.

The municipal strike in Ladysmith entered its sixth day on Monday (May 14).

The strike saw all main streets in the CBD being blocked off by Alfred Duma Local Municipality workers.

On Monday morning, they overturned rubbish bins and broke glass bottles in the streets.

It is believed that the striking workers are demanding a salary increase.

So far, there have been no reports of workers taking to the streets again, with lots of streets still in a mess.
