Stolen school bus still not recovered

The minibus was tracked using the tracker device, but it was later found that the device had been thrown out of the vehicle

A minibus belonging to a Ladysmith school was stolen last Saturday (May 5).

Educators and the girls’ netball team had travelled to Durban in the minibus to take part in the KwaZulu-Natal netball trials at Hoy Park.

They arrived in Durban safely, but later in the day, they were alerted by their tracking company that the minibus was moving and the company wanted to know if everything was okay.

The entire group was present at the trials, so an educator went to check on the vehicle and discovered that it had been stolen.

The minibus was tracked using the tracker device, but it was later found that the device had been thrown out near Cato Manor.

This is the second time that this particular bus has been stolen. The first time, it was recovered near the Lesotho border.

The school arranged for a second bus to come pick up the students and reported the incident to the SAPS in Durban.

The minibus has yet to be recovered.
