Snow has fallen on the Drakensberg, bringing icy weather conditions to Ladysmith

The snow is predicted to intensify on Tuesday morning

The winter season is upon us and what a way to start it off, with snow falling on the Drakensberg mountains.

Cold weather has hit Ladysmith due to the snow that has fallen in the surrounding areas.

Snowfall was predicted on Friday, with flakes falling on Saturday during the day at Sani Pass and in Lesotho.

The Cathkin Peak area also had snow falling on Saturday.

The Giants Castle area had nice snow falling on the peaks of the mountains on Saturday, going into Sunday morning.

More snow is predicted to fall this afternoon (Monday, May 14) on the Eastern Lesotho Highlands, with snowfall likely to reach from the Maluti Mountains down to Sani Pass and the Drakensberg mountains, as well as the Central and Southern Berg.

The snow is predicted to intensify tomorrow morning (Tuesday, May 15) in certain areas, with falls of up to 10cm.
