The man who was brutally gunned down this morning (May 14) in Roosboom has been identified as a worker at uThukela District Municipality.
He had been working for the municipality for the past seven years in the Water & Technical Service Department as a general worker.
Police say that a case of murder is being investigated.
It is alleged that today at about 6am, the 35-year-old was shot by two unknown suspects while in the Roosboom area.
He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the face and head, and was declared dead at the scene.

It is believed that the man was waiting for transport to work when the shooting took place.
uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza released the following message: “Our condolences go to the family, friends and colleagues for the great loss of life. This is of course an overwhelming time of loss, with so much pain and many questions.”
