It is crucial that parents act quickly to get their child the help they need

Drug abuse is becoming a major issue worldwide and the availability of drugs is increasing at a rapid rate.

As a parent, it can be a nightmare to find out your child is on drugs.

There are common signs and symptoms that parents should keep an eye out for if they suspect drug abuse:

  • Aggressive behaviour
  • Restlessness
  • Emotional outbursts
  • Dilated (enlarged) pupils (dagga, CAT, methamphetamines)
  • Weight loss
  • Uncontrollable shaking
  • Track marks or red bruises
  • Isolating themselves from others

An overdose of drugs such as heroin, cocaine, CAT and methamphetamines can cause death, so it is crucial that parents are able to get their child the help they need before it’s too late.
