Guess what? Christmas lights still up in the streets of Ladysmith

A tourist from Germany thinks the town is living in the past, as Christmas is long gone

Almost 2 weeks later after running a story in the Ladysmith Gazette about the Christmas lights still being up in town and, guess what, they’re still up in the streets!

The first month of the new year has already flown by, with the second month heading rapidly towards its end as well, but the Xmas spirit is still alive and well if you drive through the CBD and especially Murchison Street at night.

The fancy, multi-coloured Christmas lights that were put up in the main street to celebrate the festive season are still there and shine bright for motorists who happen to be in the heart of the CBD after sunset.

These lights are most prevalent outside the Town Hall building, wishing you a Merry Christmas… And we’re already in February, heading into March.

A tourist from Germany commented on the matter, saying that she saw the Christmas lights as she was driving along Murchison Street. Her initial thoughts were that the town is living in the past, as Christmas is long gone.

The municipality has still not commented as to why the Christmas lights have been up so long.
