Al-Imdaad Foundation makes breakfast a treat for the disabled

This initiative sees the daily provision of a specially-formulated, high-energy cereal called Siyasutha, which helps to "power the day"

Yesterday (February 15), the Al-Imdaad Foundation launched its ‘Make Breakfast Possible’ feeding programme at Eldorado Home for the Disabled in Ladysmith. Daily feeding will now take place for residents at the home.

This initiative sees the daily provision of a specially-formulated, high-energy cereal called Siyasutha, which helps to “power the day”. Eldorado Home will join a network of over 40 schools and institutions across the country, where the feeding programme takes place.

The launch was attended by Al-Imdaad Foundation ‘Make Breakfast Possible’ project co-ordinator Ahmed Karrim and other ‘local projects’ team members.

Karrim said that in addition to launching the daily breakfast feeding scheme at Eldorado Home, the Al-Imdaad Foundation had also provided mattresses and hygiene packs for use by the residents.

During the launch, Eldorado Home facilitator Mrs Selvum Nair thanked the Al-Imdaad Foundation for the intervention. She said that the daily breakfast feeding would make a big difference in the life of the residents.

She also acknowledged the good work the Al-Imdaad Foundation had been doing locally, such as the daily Slice-4-Life sandwich distributions at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital.

Describing the launch event, project co-ordinator Ahmed Karrim said, “It was a humbling experience to see the smiles on the faces of the patients as they enjoyed the meal.”
