3 arrested on possession charges in Ladysmith

All three suspects made a brief appearance in the Ladysmith Magistrate's Court

Ladysmith police officers arrested three people aged between 24 and 37 during the course of last weekend.

A 35-year-old man was found in possession of a goat that is suspected to have been stolen. The man was arrested after police acted on a tip-off. The goat is valued at R1000.

Then, a 24-year-old man was arrested in the Roosboom area. Police pounced on his premises, which he was using to sell liquor without a licence.

He was found in possession of crates containing 69 quarts.

The value of the quarts is estimated at R1500.

Later in the day, a 37-year-old man was arrested after being found in possession of 48 quarts of beer. He was also selling liquor without a licence. The stock is valued at over R1000.

All three suspects made a brief appearance in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Monday (January 22).
