St Dominics lends a hand to the animals

Once enough money was raised, a bag each of dog and cat food was donated to the SPCA.

The Grade 6 learners of St Dominics Newcastle undertook a six-week project in Term 3, to raise funds through chores around their homes.

Once enough money was raised, a bag each of dog and cat food was donated to the SPCA.

Most recently, the learners spent a morning at the SPCA helping out with the various tasks, including cleaning out cages, taking dogs for walks and playing with the animals.

Although the visit was a happy one, learners all left with heavy hearts.

“The animals were so cute and so needy,” said school representatives.

Commenting that the society often faced difficult decisions, St Dominics felt strongly it needed as much support from the community as possible.

“A big thank-you must go to the SPCA for doing a special job and for hosting St Dominics Newcastle.”
