Miss AbaQulusi 2017 is the complete package

“I decided to conquer my doubts and fears by taking part in beauty pageants. When I started winning, I realised that I could have something going in the modelling industry,”

HAVING initially had her sight on becoming either a professional dancer or actress, this year’s Miss AbaQulusi, Ayanda Magwaza, stumbled into the world of modelling to improve her confidence.

“I decided to conquer my doubts and fears by taking part in beauty pageants. When I started winning, I realised that I could have something going in the modelling industry,” said this 22-year-old.

Having always had a bubbly personality, Ayanda never shied away from asking people to invite her to their events so that she could show off her dancing skills.

She is currently studying for her Bachelor of Education degree through UNISA.

Ayanda said that she enjoyed being among the Mr and Miss AbaQulusi finalists, as it gave her the opportunity to learn more about pageants as the other contestants shared their past experiences. Contrary to how most might answer the, “Were you expecting to win?” question, which is often responded to with the modest, “never in my wildest dreams,” Ayanda said that she was confident she would snatch the title.

“Every time I go on stage, I tell myself that I’ve got to win and that I am the best. I’m like a proton, I stay positive,” she said.

Moving forward, Ayanda is hoping to gain more experience in the modelling industry and to work efficiently with the youth and community. Ayanda said that she was highly grateful to event organiser, Sphesihle Molefe, her mother, friends and other members of her family for the support they have shown her.

The possibilities seem endless for this young woman and she says even the Miss South Africa title is not out of reach.
