Isabel bids Vryheid a fond farewell after 27 years

Isabel Patrick is bidding a fond farewell to the little town she has grown to love for almost three decades.

AFTER 27 years as a resident of Vryheid, Isabel Patrick is bidding a fond farewell to the little town she has grown to love for almost three decades.

Isabel arrived in Vryheid with her husband in 1991 and has been a part of the fabric of Vryheid since then. Her work at Vryheid Book Shop has branded her a familiar face and she smiles as she recalls with fondness the many occasions where she has received random hugs from passing strangers who recognise her.

Over the years, Isabel has formed many friendships with locals from all walks of life and would like to thank all of her loyal clients and friends for their support. Specifically, she would like to extend her gratitude to Mr Dales, who she would like to thank for being so good to her through all the years, as well as the principals of the African schools for their continued support, and Vicky and Anne from the internet cafe for being such great friends to “an 86-year-old teenager”.

As a woman of great faith, Isabel extends her sincere gratitude to Pastor Jannie Viljoen and the congregation of the Bethany Baptist Church for welcoming her into their church and allowing her to worship with them.

“We have a very good relationship, the Lord and I,” she smiles, with a youthful sparkle in her eye. “Through all the joy and sorrow, I’ve had a blessed time in Vryheid and have been blessed to have good relationships with the community as a whole.”
