Municipal staff celebrates Heritage Day in style

Each department represented a tribe of choice: Xhosa, Indian, Zulu, Sotho,

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality councillors, management and officials got dressed in colourful traditional attire to showcase different cultural backgrounds.

A Heritage Day celebration was held at the Estcourt Town Hall on September 22. Each department represented a tribe of choice: Xhosa, Indian, Zulu, Sotho and Swati. Various cultural presentations were made and best teams were awarded.

The Mayor, Councillor Jabu Mbele gave a keynote address at the event, where she highlighted the importance of unity and the importance of celebrating Heritage Month.

“Heritage does not only refer to historical inheritance, creative expression and food but also embraces the various languages that have become entrenched in our cultural milieu,” she pointed out.

The municipality says it acknowledges and recognises the diverse culture and history of all the people of Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.
