Child Welfare gets a lucky boost from Phytides and the slots team

This quote by the late Sam Levenson was incredibly fitting for last Thursday’s visit to Vryheid Child Welfare by Michael Phytides, his wife, Emma and the team from KZN Slots who travelled to Vryheid to hand over a large cheque to the struggling organisation.

Phytides, who celebrated turning one year older on Thursday as well, is no stranger to helping others. He has hosted fundraisers and donated to several charities within the Vryheid community in recent times and his birthday was no exception.

In his dealings with KZN Slots, Phytides recommended Vryheid Child Welfare as a worthy recipient for a donation, which led to the procurement of a substantial cash injection from KZN Slots to Vryheid Child Welfare, allowing them to carry out a much needed upgrade on their conference room and facilities.

Quentin Brown addressed the KZN Slots team at the handover of the cheque on Thursday, thanking them for their generosity and for making the upgrade possible, as well as thanking Michael Phytides for his role in orchestrating the deal.

“The real heroes here are not us,” responded KZN Slots’ Niresh Bahadur. “We just helped with funding. We are very grateful that we can support your organisation in this way. You guys are the real heroes for all you do for the community…”

The team from KZN Slots shared their adventure to Vryheid on social media on Friday. “Yesterday we braved the wet weather to visit with the dedicated and compassionate team at Child Welfare, Vryheid. This organization has a rich 95 year history of serving the local communities in and around Vryheid. Their motto is to protect the rights and enhance and promote the quality of life of children, families and communities. It is always heartwarming to meet with people who give so freely of themselves in service of others… In partnership with [Michael Phytides], it was our pleasure to help upgrade the boardroom facilities at Child Welfare, Vryheid.”
