Ngoza Secondary excels in cultural activities

Speaking at the event, District Mayor Mazibuko showered the school with praises

uThukela District Municipality Mayor Siphiwe Mazibuko recently visited Ngoza Secondary School in Waaihoek to congratulate them on a job well done, as the school excelled in cultural activities. The mayor was accompanied by Exco member Cllr MW Khumalo and Cllr Khulu of Ward 31, together with representatives from the Department of Education.

The school managed to secure first position during the cultural events that are hosted annually by the Department of Education.

Ngoza Secondary principal Mr Mathebula is proud of his learners for excelling and winning trophies. He is not only pleased with their sterling performance, but also the fact that there is a Grade 12 learner at his school who is one of the top academic achievers. Anele Ndwandwe achieved 100% in Life Sciences, 96% in Mathematics and 84% in Physical Science.

Speaking at the event, District Mayor Mazibuko showered the school with praises for their achievements. He then advised and informed the learners about the bursaries the municipality offers.

“I would like to tell you that, as the municipality, we offer financial assistance to deserving learners to further their studies at tertiary institutions. Our Youth Office is there to assist you to access these bursaries,” the mayor said.

When asked by the mayor what she wants to do academically after she has completed her matric, Anele said her wish is to become a pilot. The mayor also encouraged all the Grade 12 learners to concentrate on their studies, especially those who are doing Mathematics and Science, as these subjects can open vast opportunities for them in the future.

Gifts for the learners were handed over to the school.
