BREAKING NEWS: Alleged murderer arrested on Hardwick Street

A task team from Durban tracked down a suspect, allegedly wanted for murder in Durban.

Newcastillians travelling on Hardwick Street this morning, August 25, looked on in awe as armed men stopped a VW Polo and extracted its occupants.

Social media was soon abuzz, with several residents speculating about what had transpired.

However, according to a local police official, the armed men were from a police task force in Durban.

“They had tracked an alleged murderer to Newcastle and arrested the man this morning,” explained the source.

Fingerprint analysis is now being done to confirm if the suspect’s identity, and to determine if he is linked to the murder which he has been accused of.

The suspect is being held in custody at the Newcastle Police Station, pending the results of the fingerprint analysis.

An eyewitness to the arrest managed to video the arrest and shared it on Facebook.
