Uthukela Cluster police weekend clean-up

The arrests were recorded in Bergville, Upper Tugela, Colenso, Ezakheni, Ntabamhlophe and Ladysmith

A total of 20 suspects aged between18 and 59 were arrested during a weekend operation.

The suspects were arrested at different station areas in the Uthukela Cluster for being in possession of drugs, firearms and ammunition.

12 suspects were found in possession of illegal drugs.

Close to ten kilograms of dagga with a street value of R15 000, mandrax tablets as well as a small amount of woonga straws were recovered during the operation.

The arrests were recorded in Bergville, Upper Tugela, Colenso, Ezakheni, Ntabamhlophe and Ladysmith.

Eight suspects aged between 23 and 59 were arrested for being in possession of either unlicensed firearms or ammunition.
A suspect (59) was arrested in the Endonda area of Ntabamhlophe after police searched his house and recovered an unlicensed 9mm pistol and 93 rounds of ammunition.

In the Rensburgdrift area of Estcourt a 43-year-old suspect was arrested after being found in possession of a rifle and 41 rounds of ammunition.

The arrests were made possible with the assistance of the various communities who have chosen to partner with the police and rid their communities of illegal drugs and firearms. The suspects appeared briefly in different courts on August 14.
