Neighbourhood Watch patrollers take to the streets on foot

Despite the chilly evenings, when most would be content to be indoors, these patrollers have undertaken the duty of scouring the neighbourhoods for criminal activity.

A LOT can be said for the dedication of the foot patrollers from Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch.

Despite the chilly evenings, when most would be content to be indoors, these patrollers have undertaken the duty of scouring the neighbourhoods for criminal activity.

Their aim is to target water meter thieves and burglaries at night, acting as an extra set of eyes and ears for the Neighbourhood Watch patrollers who are patrolling in vehicles and assist them with back up if necessary.

Last Friday night, they covered approximately 18km on foot, despite icy conditions, patrolling the area from Church Street to South Street, between High and West Streets.

The foot patrollers of Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch invite other members, or those who would like to join Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch, to accompany them on their foot patrols.

“The more people we have, the more area we can cover.”

If you would like to be involved, contact Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch Patrol Commander, Imtiaz Sahib on 071 078 4606 or visit the Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch office at 147 President Street on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays between 10am and 2pm.
