ArcelorMittal transforms Utrecht Primary School

Manager of Socio-economic Development, Transformation and Centre of Excellence, Joe Nowbath said the poor state of the school was hardly conducive to an environment that would stimulate enthusiastic learning.

Tired, dreary and dilapidated buildings were what met the team from ArcelorMittal as they descended upon the school the Utrecht Primary School.

Manager of Socio-economic Development, Transformation and Centre of Excellence, Joe Nowbath said the poor state of the school was hardly conducive to an environment that would stimulate enthusiastic learning.

A team of 50 ArcelorMittal volunteers had taken on the challenge of making this an institution that children would have attended and studied at.

A few hours of hard work was all that was needed to create a color filled, vibrant school that was sure to elicit bright eyed wonder and squeals of joy from the 400 children that occupied the school.

ArcelorMittal extended its gratitude to Tazoe Construction for their contribution in the complete restoration of the hall.

“Your collaborative effort is highly appreciated. Nelson Mandela said that ‘What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead,” said Nowbath.

Nowbath concluded by saying ArcelorMittal was proud to have made a difference in the lives of the children and the community.
