The sound of brush cutters at 5 Jannie de Waal Avenue on Thursday brought a sigh of relief from neighbours.

Neighbours said that they heard the brush cutters on Thursday and were pleased to see Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality workers clearing the long grass.

The vacant property, which is believed to be owned by the municipality, has been left unkempt for months and according to neighbours, was attracting vagrants who sought shelter from the elements.

The unkempt state of this municipal-owned property before it was cleaned up.

According to one neighbour, the home’s windows have also been broken and fires have been lit inside the rooms. They, are however, glad that their call to clean up the property has been heeded.
