Acknowledging the elderly by “adopting a granny” in Ladysmith

IEC learners helped the "grannies" choose the perfect items to wear during the chilly winter months

The South African National Zakah Fund (SANZAF), in conjunction with the Islamic Educational Centre (IEC), embarked on an ‘Adopt a Granny’ campaign today (May 14).

This is an annually held event where SANZAF buys winter clothing for old people in Ladysmith.

The elderly are given an opportunity to shop with an amount of R1000 to buy winter clothing of their choice.

IEC learners helped the “grannies” choose the perfect items to wear during the chilly winter months.

The elderly ladies were seen having a good time as they walked around Asmals clothing shop, picking out items that appealed to them.

A scrumptious meal and coffee was served after the shopping spree.
