Scelo Ndwandwe to introduce Black Child Foundation

The objective of the Black Child Foundation is to reach out to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Scelo Ndwandwe is a man on a mission.

He formed the Black Child Foundation in 2016, with the objective of reaching out to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“I want to use some of my experiences in order to help youth to develop and reach their full potential.”

Growing up in Newcastle, Mr Ndwandwe said he did not have an easy life.

“I come from a disadvantaged home, where I had to live with my grandmother as my parents worked out of town.”

While he was unable to see his parents on a regular basis, their hard work paid off and he was able to study finance and marketing in Pietermaritzburg.

After completion of his studies, he returned home, only to find himself struggling to find employment.

But this did not deter him from making a social impact.

He set up his own funeral parlour and the foundation, and motivated businesses and industries to help mentor children.

“I want to see the organisation grow to an extent where it can provide training programmes for youngsters.”

Presently, he is investigating  how the Black Child Foundation can assist youth obtain their driver’s licences.

As a relatively new organisation, the Black Child Foundation will be introducing itself to the community on June 10.

On the day, the organisation will host a colour run from Theku Plaza to Madadeni College.

Stalls, music and activities will be at the college and will introduce the community not only to the foundation but also to a healthier lifestyle.
