Faulty switchboard to blame for hospital calls not being answered

Residents left frustrated as calls go unanswered

Residents have been left frustrated after numerous attempts to call the Dundee Hospital have gone unanswered.

However, the reason for the frustration is a result of a faulty switchboard.

Communications Officer for the hospital, Sbonelo Dube, confirmed that the switchboard has a fault, and as a result, the 034 212 1111 does not appear as an incoming call.

Mr Dube added that the matter had been reported to the District Office and the Head Office.

He urged residents to use the following numbers when trying to contact the hospital:

061 825 7107
061 624 9146
061 744 5471
061 867 8837
062 568 2472
062 733 4018
062 399 2519
062 086 8233

The numbers will put callers through to switchboard operators, who can then transfer them to the relevant office or department.
