The Spartans tour to Margate

After receiving the Wild Card position, DHS beat Wembley in the quarter finals

The first girls’ hockey team had the opportunity of attending Margate Sport School over the holidays. One of the main goals of this tour was to create strengthened team unity and sisterhood, and Margate definitely did not disappoint. The girls enjoyed early morning exercise with Mr Lippke, paintball and Go-Karting at Kart Freaks, and of course time at the beach.

Dundee High Hockey team girls preparing exercises with Mr Lippke before the games. The exercise was paintball and Go-Karting at Kart Freaks, and of course they had time to visit the beach as well during their trip to Margate.

Madsen Hockey Academy provided excellent coaching ensuring the girls could grow as players. On the final day, a round robin tournament was held. After receiving the Wild Card position, DHS beat Wembley in the quarter finals and then South City in a nail-biting penalty shootout. This meant taking on Sarel Cilliers in the final. The game was very intense and fantastic hockey was played by both teams…but it was not to be, and DHS unfortunately went down 0-1. The camaraderie between the two Endumeni teams was fantastic and DHS is truly proud that of all the teams present, it was our region which came out tops. A big thank you to the first Rugby team for their support as well as Mr Lippke and Mrs Nortje for accompanying the girls. Looking forward to seeing sportsmanship, sisterhood and great hockey this 2017 season.
