All systems go for Endumeni Winter Sports Challenge

The SAPS and Traffic Department will be enforcing strict measures at this year's event.

Pravir Sewpaul, a rising local chess star has joined the organising team for the Endumeni Winter Sports Challenge. Pravir will be coordinating all the chess games at the sporting event. Starting out at the age of ten, Pravir captained the Dundee High and Dundee Junior School chess teams and also received his NKZN colours in Grade Six. He was also voted the best player in 2014. Any person wishing to take on Pravir at the event is welcome too. It has been a while since he has played but Pravir is eager for a challenge.

Strict Measures
The SAPS and Traffic Department will be enforcing strict measures at this year’s event. Any person playing loud music or consuming liquor or found littering in front of resident’s yards will be dealt with. Colonel Nyide and Chief Traffic Officer, Mr Nsibande promised that they would assist to make this a fun, alcohol-free, family get-together.
Mr Khan urged those attending the event to respect the residents and their privacy. “As the organisers, we will try our level best to accommodate residents around the area during the event by reducing sound levels, littering and obstructing drive-ways.”

Parking
Mr Khan urged motorists who park on the road sides not to obstruct anyone’s driveways as vehicles will be towed away for doing so. “We are not responsible for any loss, damage, theft and injuries during the event, so please park at your own risk.” Right of admission has also been reserved. Marshals will also be used to direct vehicles for parking.

Security
Nembile Security will be ensuring there is no untoward behaviour taking place over the weekend. Director, Riaz Haffajee added that his team would not be allowing anyone to enter with weapons or alcohol and would deal with anyone becoming problematic at the event. There will also be a security and information tent put up by Nembile Sercurity.

Emergencies
There will be professional medical assistance available throughout the weekend thanks to Doctor Mbonai and his ambulance service team who will be available during the event.

Pass Outs
This year there will be no pass outs at the gates given. Preference will only be given to emergencies and cultural activities as any persons leaving the stadium will be charged an entry fee again upon return. Gates will open at the Endumeni Winter Sports Challenge kick-off on Thursday, May 4 at 12:30pm with games starting at 2pm till 10pm.

On Friday, May 5, gates will open at 1pm with games starting at 2pm to 23:30 for midnight. On Saturday, May 6, gates open at 8am with the action getting underway at 9am till 11pm for midnight. On Sunday, May 7, gates open at 8am and play gets underway at 9am till 5pm. All senior games will be played on Sunday.

Tickets for Thursday are:
Arm bands – R110 for children which includes entry fee, hot dog and juice and unlimited rides.
Adult armbands – R110, includes entry fee and unlimited rides (valid from 2pm to 8pm).
The normal ticket entrance after 8pm is R10 for children and R20 for adults. No arm bands.

On Friday ticket prices will be:
Arm bands – R110 for children which includes entry fee, hotdog and juice and unlimited rides.
Adult armbands – R110 and includes entry fee and unlimited rides (valid from 2pm to 5pm). Normal ticket entrance after 5pm is R10 for children and R20 for adults. No arm bands.
On Saturday, ticket prices are R15 for children and R25 for adults.
On Sunday, tickets will be R10 for everyone.
