Lasec helping out where they can in Ladysmith

Lunch packs consisting of two sandwiches with assorted fillings, fruit and pure juice were distributed to 100 children

On Sunday, determined and driven educator Mr K Bihaspat and some learners from Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) made their way to Watersmeet, where a local community church called AFM Assembly was visited.

Lunch packs consisting of two sandwiches with assorted fillings, fruit and pure juice (all sponsored and prepared by the Royal Hotel) were distributed to 100 children.

The congregation was then treated to an exciting programme led by the pastor, which enabled individuals to be encouraged and positive during the trials and tribulations of life.

Thereafter, the Royal Hotel provided mouth-watering creamy soup and bread to the community members.

This initiative now marks 20 out of the 67 outreaches that are hoped to be sustained by Mr Bihaspat and his team, as 2016 marked a completion of 67 community outreaches for 67 minutes of Nelson Mandela Day.

Special mention needs to be made of Mr Richard Lee and his wife, Mrs Lee, from the Royal Hotel, as it is through their unstinting generosity that these projects are funded and sustained.

A special word of thanks also goes out to Mr Nadesan, head chef at Royal Hotel, and his wonderful kitchen staff for the preparation of all the meals that reach their various destinations.
