Christians get together and thank God for rain

Their prayers, and the prayers of countless others across the nation, were answered

October saw Ladysmith in the middle of one of South Africa’s worst ever droughts.

The town suffered through water restrictions and our farmers were also significantly impacted by the lack of rain. However, there was hope – the Christian community of Ladysmith united in prayer for much-needed rain to once again fall on our town and the rest of South Africa.

The answers to their prayers already began coming down later that evening, with a large downpour of rain.

However, completion of their humble request to God would be realised with the coming of the big rains at the end of February – the dams would be filled to overflowing.

Last month, they got what they asked for, as – in a period of just a few days – Spioenkop Dam filled to over 100 per cent!

Their prayers, and the prayers of countless others across the nation, were answered.

After these last rains, the Christian community once more felt an urge to gather together to unite in prayer – this time to thank God for the rains. On Thursday, they gathered together, once again on the hilltop at Platrand, and thanked God for the rains. A big crowd gathered.

The prayer meeting was hosted by evangelist Matthew Lee, with prayers being conducted in English and Afrikaans by several local pastors and other church-goers. After the prayers, Matthew encouraged everyone to remain united and continue praying together, irrespective of any differences.

“Functioning alone, there is very little we can accomplish, but when we unite and work together, we step into a whole new realm of power and authority, and consequently receive the victory…

“As Christians, we are all called to be part of the united body of Christ. This is an instruction from Him to us, so let’s strive to do it – let us remain united as we are here tonight,” said evangelist Matthew Lee.

“It was a powerful meeting and I look forward to seeing the mighty works God is going to do in the city of Ladysmith in the nearby future,” he added.
