BREAKING NEWS: Two collisions leave one dead and five injured in Newcastle

The injured were transported to hospital.

Two light motor vehicles collided at the intersection of Allen Street and Albert Wessels Drive yesterday afternoon (March 16).

Two passengers and the driver from the first vehicle, as well as two passengers from the second vehicle, sustained minor injuries.

The injured were transported to hospital.

Due to an oil spillage, afternoon traffic was gridlocked and officials had to take control of the scene, to minimise rubber-necking.

The exact cause of the incident remains subject to police investigations.

In another incident on Albert Wessels Drive this morning (March 17), one person was killed when two vehicles collided at about 4am.
Two other occupants were injured.
The Newcastle Advertiser extends its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
