On Friday, a vigilant member of the public noticed two men jumping over a gate of a premises in Surat Road. The person raised the alarm and police were informed.
Officers from the Ladysmith K9 Unit responded immediately. The officers found that a window at the back of the premises had been opened and that the burglar bars had been removed.

Two men, aged 18 and 20, were arrested after being caught ‘in the act’. They were busy removing fittings and pipes from the house when the officers pounced on them.
They face charges of housebreaking and theft. The suspects will be profiled to determine whether they could possibly be linked to other crimes of a similar nature in the area.
They will appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (March 6).
The vigilance and speedy reporting of the incident by members of the community is commended.
