AbaQulusi’s bursars still haven’t received any money

The acting MM advised that students who were told that they qualified but have since not received these funds to date, need to contact his office or the office of the mayor urgently.

ACTING MM, Dalisu Zulu, is calling all the students who were accepted to receive bursary programs this year and still have not received these, to come forward.

This follows a complaint which was brought forward by Nkosinathi Mayenziwe, a Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology student, who said that he has not been attending classes since they commenced as he does not have textbooks and still has not been funded by AbaQulusi.

“I qualified for the funding since I was raised by a single mother who is unemployed and has three other dependents,” explained Nkosinathi, who went on to say that after being notified that he qualified, he was never contacted again.

According to the acting MM, students who were told that they qualified but have since not received these funds to date, need to contact his office or the office of the mayor urgently.

“A team of four people will be dealing with matters surrounding the bursaries and we are hoping that they will be able to help these young people,” said the acting MM.

He also went on to say that due to having only recently got into his new position, he had not yet looked into the matter regarding the funding of students. He did, however, point out that R200 000 has been put aside for 2017’s bursaries.
